Let’s break it down, starting with the foundational Compete USA program. Compete USA is open to skaters of all ages and abilities, emphasizing enjoyment, skill development, and personal accomplishments.

Nonqualifying Competitions offer an accessible platform for skaters to showcase their progress and passion. Here, participants can test their abilities in a supportive environment. The national nonqualifying events within U.S. Figure Skating offer a range of opportunities. The State Games of America attract participants from across the nation, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition. The National Showcase celebrates the artistic side of figure skating, while the National Theatre On Ice event combines skating with theatrical elements. The Competition Series, Excel Series, National Solo Dance Series, National Synchronized Skating Series, Adult Competition Series, and National Qualifying Series cater to diverse interests and styles, ensuring there’s a stage for every skater to shine. More information on each of these is available here

As skaters advance, Qualifying Competitions become the next step, providing a pathway to more challenging levels and potentially leading to national competitions. The qualifying structure facilitates athletes’ progression towards national championships, with specific events and guidelines set for each category. Within the qualifying structure, skaters can choose from various disciplines. In Singles, Pairs and Ice Dance, participants showcase individual and partnered routines, demonstrating technical prowess and artistic expression. Synchronized Skating involves teams moving in unison, creating captivating displays of coordination. The Adults category offers adults at the championship adult levels the chance to qualify for the U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships. Collegiate Skating provides a competitive outlet for those balancing academics and athletics. Advancement through the qualifying ranks allows skaters to aim for coveted spots in prestigious national competitions.

From the joy of mastering a routine in Compete USA to the grandeur of competing at the national level, U.S. Figure Skating offers a rich tapestry of experiences for skaters of all backgrounds and aspirations. Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned enthusiast, delving into the multifaceted world of figure skating competitions unveils the dedication, artistry, and athleticism that make this sport truly extraordinary.
