Skater Spotlight on Gregoryanna B!

Each month FSCSM will feature a different FSCSM skater in our monthly newsletter. Featured skaters are chosen randomly. The featured skater for July/August 2023 is Gregoryanna B!

Introduce yourself and when you started skating. My name is Gregoryanna. I am 16 years old, turning 17 in August. I am going into my senior year at St. Mary’s Ryken high school. I started skating when I was in fourth grade.

How did you get into figure skating? I was first introduced to figure skating after watching the sport on TV as a kid, which led to me wanting to try it out myself. My sister and I first got on the ice at a public skate in third grade and started skating in fourth grade.

Have you played any other sports, or do you play any other sports currently? I did competitive dancing before skating and was on my high school’s sailing team.

What is your favorite part of skating? I like how skating can be both a great individual and team sport. I really enjoy teaching students, both young and adult. I also enjoy skating fast and feeling free on the ice.

What is your favorite move in skating? My favorite move in figure skating is a loop jump.

What are your biggest struggles? I struggle with being physically flexible. I need to do more off-ice stretching.

What is on your skating bucket list? My skating bucket list includes landing my axel, starting to work on doubles, perfecting my camel spin, getting a good split jump, outside spread eagle, and Ina Bauer, and driving the Zamboni. I still think we should add big googly eyes on the front of it!

What do you enjoy doing outside of skating? Swimming, reading, listening to music, playing with my dogs, and sleeping.
