Critiques

Skating critiques provide personalized feedback to help skaters strengthen their technique, improve performance, and reach their goals.

What is a Critique?

A skating critique gives skaters the opportunity to perform for experienced skating officials and receive constructive feedback in a developmental setting.

Depending on the session, skaters may receive feedback on a program, skating skills, individual elements, technique, performance, or overall presentation. Unlike a test or competition, the focus is not on passing, placement, or results, but on providing useful feedback that skaters and their coaches can incorporate into training.

Critiques can be especially helpful when preparing for an upcoming test or competition, but skaters do not need to be competing to participate.

Participating in a Critique

FSCSM periodically offers critique opportunities for skaters from FSCSM and the surrounding skating community. Critiques are often held in conjunction with our in-person test sessions, although they may not be offered at every test session.

Session format, eligibility, and available critique options may vary. When critiques are scheduled, details and registration information will be posted on our Events page and may also be shared through social media and with local skating communities.
